Welcome to The Stable!

We wish to welcome writers and other creative people looking for uninterrupted writing time, to stay in our guest cittage for shorter or longer periods. The cottage, which is a converted 18th-century stable, is situated in the forsests of Kolmården in Swedish Östergötland, on a plot shared with a house of our own use. Here you’ll find seclusion amidst lovely mushroom-rich forests, numerous lakes and beautiful cultural landscapes. You can come here on your own, with your family (including pets) or with friends or colleagues.

The cottage is a two-storey yellow wooden house. The ground floor comprises a fully equipped kitchen, a living room and a bathroom with a shower. The first floor has two bedrooms – one with a double bed and one with a single bed – as well as a small children’s room in a converted side loft loft. The loft is furnished with a bed, toys and children’s books. The house has its own patio, but guests staying with us also have access to the rest of the large grounds.

In addition to The Stable, the plot features a red 18th-century cottage, and a small guest house. It is very quiet, with no major roads nearby but plenty of jays, ravens, deer and squirrels. The nearest small town, with a supermarket, café and pizzeria, is about 15 kilometers away. You can reach us either by car or by public transport. If you choose the latter, the final part of the journey is via on-demand public transport from Finspång.

We rent out on a weekly basis. For one of the bedrooms, we charge €400/ week. If you wish to rent both bedrooms, there is an additional charge of €200/week. If you are a larger group, we can arrange extra sleeping space in the living room and/or the guest house. In that case, we’ll agree on a price. Bed linen and towels are included. If we’re on site, we can also provide a simple soup for dinner at an extra cost.
